Using Evaluation Research to Improve Mentoring Program Outcomes

Abstract

This paper presents the findings from an evaluation of the first year of the Woodrow Wilson Indiana Teaching Fellowship (WWITF) mentoring program at the University of Indianapolis (UIndy). The study utilized the case study approach with an emphasis on capturing Fellows’ experiences as they engaged in their first year of teaching. This study suggests the importance of several strategies to support the WWITF goal of retaining high-quality STEM teachers.
