Practice What You Preach to Powerful Pedagogy: Using Student Feedback to Enhance Teaching

Abstract

In this paper, I examine the practice of integrating reflective practices in my mathematics and professional experience courses, using pst feedback and evaluation to assess the impact of these practices on learning about teaching. Through systematic inquiry and ongoing analysis of evaluation data over the past decade using self-study methodology, I have refined my teaching so as to connect more closely with pst needs and in doing so, let the learners’ needs drive my teaching. I evaluate the multiple forms of feedback and discuss the outcomes of my self-study, including the creation of the animation, Freida’s feedback on feedback, and the ways in which this animation has had an influence on teaching at the broader university/s level.
