Developing an Instrument for Assessing Student Biblical Worldview

Sat, April 14, 4:05 to 6:05pm, Pan Pacific, Floor: Restaurant Level, Pacific Rim 1

Abstract

Several Christian school associations and many Christian schools identify developing a Biblical worldview in their students as an important component of their organizational mission, yet few report on their level of success. This study developed the 3-Dimensional Worldview Survey, which attempts to measure worldview along the propositional, behavioral, and heart-orientation dimensions. The 76-item instrument has a subscale for each dimension. The validity of the instrument was evaluated by a review of a panel of 11 experts in worldview, and the internal reliability of the instrument was evaluated by administering the instrument to a convenience sample of 52 high school students. Chronbach’s alpha for the pilot study was .919 for the complete instrument.
