This paper presents the approach and results for improving school performance of the Moravian (The Evangelische Broedergemeente Suriname [EBGS]) schools in Surinam by implementing a businesslike approach for school management. At central level, a strategic plan 2008-2013 was developed focusing on organizational restructuring, cultural change, creating a sound financial position, modernizing curricula, training of staff and improving the relationship between the school, church and parents. Thus, creating a dynamic and professional education system and organization while preserving the historic norms and values as well as the Christian identity of the EBGS. Two years after its implementation, the strategic plan has been evaluated based on defined indicators. These show significant improvements in the area of school results and organization.
