Sat, April 14, 4:05 to 6:05pm, Pan Pacific, Floor: Restaurant Level, Pacific Rim 1

Abstract

This study is an investigation of faculty perceptions of teacher professionalism at 16 religious schools in the mid-Atlantic region in the United States. An online survey of 25 items was completed by 292 teachers. The survey instrument was an abbreviated version of Tichenor and Tichenor’s (2009) four dimensions of teacher professionalism. A means analysis based on six independent variables was completed using independent samples t tests. Variables included: gender, size of school, grade level, years of experience, level of degree earned, and type of undergraduate institution. Results demonstrated statistically significant variance on certain individual survey items for each independent variable.
