This presentation considers representations of zines--self-published, noncommercial magazines--as space in the work of a zinester and teacher, as well as in zine scholarship more generally. Drawing on theories of the public sphere to analyze these representations, this work offers insight into the kinds of writing spaces available to students in and out of school and the features that make those spaces potentially transformative.
