This study focuses on impacts of principal leadership and implementation quality on Success for All outcomes for better understanding how and why education programs "work." We address how principal leadership may have mediating effects on an intervention and student outcomes using a 2-1-1 cross level mediation analysis in an RCT. We investigate effects of quality of implementation on outcomes using the principal stratification method. Results suggest that SFA intervention has a positive impact on principal leadership for SFA, and the mediating the effects of principals can be, in some cases, equal to the overall effect SFA. Additionally, we found that SFA has a stronger impact on the outcomes in schools with higher implementation quality than those with lower implementation quality.
