Abstract

Many researchers have studied about the effect of going to better schools on student outcomes in different settings. This study particularly investigates elite high schools in South Korea in order to see the effectiveness of these elite schools on students’ academic achievement, measured by the College Scholastic Ability Test (CSAT) that graduating seniors who want to be enrolled in colleges take. I use two methods: Ordinary Least Square and Propensity Score Matching. I find a significant and positive association between going to elite high school on CSAT outcomes using OLS and three methods of Propensity Score Matching. Results are fairly consistent with the imputed dataset.
