Abstract

We discuss the design and report the results of a quasiexperimental study of the effectiveness of the Jamestown Reading Navigator (JRN), a program for high-school students who read two or more years below their grade level. A distinctive feature of this study is the use of software logs produced by the online component of JRN in conjunction with district records for treatment and control group identification. Our results show a significant positive impact of JRN on student achievement and suggest that the program is particularly beneficial for students with disabilities.
