Rethinking “Global Citizenship From an Indigenous Knowledge Perspective”

Abstract

This paper argues that there is need to rethink the concept of ‘global citizenship” from an indigenous knowledge perspective.
The paper uses an anticolonial perspective to highlight the importance of questioning the roles that power and social inequality play in the framing and implementing of the notion of ‘global citizenship.
Dei’s long-standing work on social inclusion, anti-racism, and minority education in the Canadian and African contexts will inform this paper.
