Evoking Emotional Dimensions in Human Computer Interaction: Development of the Questionnaire User Experience

Sun, April 15, 12:25 to 1:55pm, Sheraton Wall Centre, Floor: Fourth Level, North Port McNeill

Abstract

Increasingly new qualities of web-based applications, which can be summarized under the
concept of Joy of Use and, in a wider sense, User Experience (UX), are taken into account in
the research field of HCI.
We developed the online based Questionnaire User Experience (QUX) to measure different
qualities of Websites (Usability and Joy of Use). The holistic model of UX by Mahlke (2008)
has been used as a theoretical framework.
An online survey was accomplished (N = 1199) to test the initial item set. The survey data,
based on circular used factor analyses and item consistency analyses, was used to eliminate
inappropriate questions. The resulting questionnaire has a clear structure, high reliability (Cronbach´s α ≥ .88) and sufficient validity.
