Only recently has military literature awakened to the influence of cultural dimensions and their impact on operational environments. Terms such as "cultural awareness", "respect for diversity" and "human terrain" have been driving the military, thus questions concerning their impacts on operational scenarios have raised mistrusts and dilemmas.
This study departs from a qualitative research and focus on the potential of research to improve military education towards the new operational environment marked by violence, prejudice and the need to achieve conflict resolution, human rights and social justice. Thus, it highlights the need to strenghten partnerships and cooperation between universities and the military to more effectively use research to improve military education and serve the public good.
