Abstract

The personal and philosophical lives of teachers are often a discussion held outside of the classroom – reserved for the halls of academe and esoteric articles and books. Rarely, do teachers look inward to examine their systemic beliefs and attitudes. This study, though, attempts to do just that – to look at the life one teacher, myself, and how my personal life story has shaped my teaching. Through narrative inquiry, systematic questioning, and collection and analysis of data, this researcher analyzes this researcher’s own teacher set of beliefs and how these beliefs impact their own specific teaching practices. Specific questions and discussion is directed how one’s philosophical and theoretical orientation shapes and defines this teacher education beliefs and practices.
