Abstract

Although recent research suggests the importance of goal orientations for teachers’ learning, there is no information about whether and to what extent goal orientations effect the explicit usage of vocational learning opportunities. The present study aims to examine the predicitive value of teachers’ goal orientations for the attitude towards further training and the use of vocational learning opportunities. Additionally, we determine, whether and to what extend domain-specific learning goal orientations are reflected in the choice of certain training topics. Regression analyses (N = 670) indicate teachers’ goal orientations to be predictive for qualitatively different attitudes towards further trainings and the use of different vocational learning opportunities and thus verifies the importance of teachers’ goal orientations for vocation-related learning.
