Fri, April 13, 2:15 to 3:45pm, Vancouver Convention Centre, Floor: First Level, East Ballroom A

Abstract

This study explores the experiences of 15 adult Black males who have returned to college to complete an undergraduate degree from two universities located in the Southeast. While much has been written about the experiences of Black males in education, there is a dearth of empirical data on their educational experiences as adult reentry students into higher education. The results of this qualitative study expose the social and contextual factors that impede their reentry and identifies strategies to help support their successful matriculation through college.
