Science and scientific method have produced immense knowledge on physical activity (what we will call « self-movement » in our proposition) from many different perspectives, be it physiological, sociological or psychological in a fragmented manner. The proposed communication, in a complementary intention, will focus on descriptions of the experience of self-movement in its integrality, holistically. These phenomenological descriptions were written (and re-written many times) to describe the experience of self-movement of freeskiers. The main themes that characterise this experience are freedom and wonder. These themes are illustrated with evocative and animated vignettes. The educational significance of these themes for school physical education will be discussed in light of the notion of « freefall pedagogy ».
