Abstract

This research compares two teaching methods: student-centered learning that uses the interactive whiteboard with the more traditional teacher-centered approach that is typically found in college courses. Both received instruction in the same content. Pre and post tests given to the two groups before and after instruction were compared to determine gains in learning. Results between pre and post tests indicated significant gains in test scores by the students in both groups, but a significantly larger gain in the treatment group, who received instructions with the use of the interactive whiteboard, compared to the students in the control group, who received traditional teaching strategies such as PowerPoint enhanced lectures that are typically used in higher education
