Abstract

This study investigates whether the completion of a family and community partnership class impacts novice teachers’ future comfort and competency for implementing family and community engagement activities in support of student learning. The study also examines the components of the class that novice teachers felt were most beneficial in building their comfort and competence in establishing family and community engagement initiatives. The hypothesis is that teachers will identify that their participation in this course had a strong impact on their comfort and competence for implementing family and community engagement activities that support student achievement.
