Sun, April 15, 2:15 to 3:45pm, Vancouver Convention Centre, Floor: First Level, East Ballroom B

Abstract

This paper describes the examination of a bilingual teacher education program at a primarily white institution in the mid-west. On-going research investigates three critical components of the program including traditional coursework, study abroad and a year-long internship in a bilingual classroom. Through the research, the authors strive to identify if and how the three components not only foster Spanish language acquisition but also a cross cultural teaching perspective necessary for bilingual educators.
