This study explores recent Korean immigrant students’ racialized learning experiences in US schools and making meaning of American school curriculum. This study seeks to answer the questions of 1) How do Korean immigrant students perceive and make meaning of the school curriculum in US schools? and 2) How do model minority myths and racial biases against Asians influence their learning experiences and curriculum meaning making? This study sheds light on the voices of Korean immigrant youth whose stories have been largely ignored in educational scholarship, thus adding a new dimension to the current research on immigrant students’ learning experiences and culturally relevant and socially just ways to teach a growing number of newcomers in American schools.
