Abstract

This paper provides an overview of findings from a seminar series investigating Restorative Justice (RJ) and Restorative Approaches in Schools (RAiS) that was funded by Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) in the UK between 2010 and 2011. Five seminars took place. The main aim was to draw on perspectives from the academic disciplines of education, criminology, law, philosophy, psychology, psychotherapy, sociology and social policy to address some key questions about the future of RAiS. Concepts and issues that emerged have been grouped under the headings of Contestation; Culture and Context; and Social Justice and Transformation.
