Abstract

Duoethnography is a way of studying a certain phenomenon by having a conversation with another person (Norris, 2008); the purpose of this technique is to understand how different people experience a phenomenon differently, given their background and past experiences. In this form of research, the differences people have are strengths, not weaknesses (Sawyer & Norris, 2009). This paper: 1.) Examines the process of conducting a duoethnography utilizing email, face-to-face conversations, and “talking while hiking” focusing on the mutual experience of expatriate living in Australia; 2) Explores the usage of digital technology in crafting a research manuscript; and 3). Reviews the literatures about duoethnography and expatriate living with the lived experiences of the two authors.
