The traditional structures common in today’s schools limit teacher and student learning. Technology, which can enhance learning (Atkinson, O’Hair, O’Hair, & Williams, 2008; Burns, 2002, Dexter, Seashore & Anderson, 2002; Riel & Fulton, 2001; Williams, Atkinson, Cate, & O’Hair, 2008), is often not integrated into instruction in these traditional schools. This longitudinal, project evaluation provided empirical evidence of relationships between professional learning communities and technology integration to provide capacity building opportunities for improved practices and sustainability. Findings from a sample of 138 schools, impacting nearly 50,000 students and over 4000 teachers, indicated synergistic relationships between learning community development and technology integration that supported systemic school change and improved student success.
