An Analysis of a Decade of Research in Instructional Design and Technology

Abstract

In developing new research directions, it is important to understand what research has been conducted in the recent past, as well as the patterns and discourses flourishing in academic journals. To understand this, it can be helpful to review some of the journals that publish work in this area to find patterns in current conversations, research, tools being developed, and accepted theories. In this paper presentation, I will review findings from an analysis of the past decade (2001-2010) of research in five major journals in the field of instructional design and technology. This analysis will provide a glimpse into the common and contrasting discussions being carried on in different venues important to researchers
