Abstract

This paper extends achievement gains analyses in a U.S. Department of Education study (2011). That report looked at gains in student achievement for low income students eligible to receive supplementary education services (SES) either from a non-district or district providers for five districts. This work furthers that paper by comparing student fixed effect models to a model without fixed effects. It also compares results for a student and school fixed effects versus one with random school effects. It also shows that, in general district/non-district providers perform equally well among the various kinds of models.
