Abstract

This study is a one-year experimental design involving two experimental groups and one control group comparing the effectiveness of two approaches of improving teaching quality: the use of elaborated standards of content (group 1) and the use of elaborated standards of content combined with a teacher development program (group 2). Preliminary results from an analysis of variance show significant differences between group 2 and the other two groups at the end of the year implying that the teacher development program in combination with elaborated standards is a stronger intervention than the use of elaborated education standards only. Preliminary result of multilevel growth modeling shows a positive direction of improvement in group 2 meaning that improvement did occur after the intervention.
