Higher education institutions are increasingly crossing international borders to open foreign branch campuses. Although foreign branch campuses are seen as a rising trend in higher education, it appears the success with which universities and colleges access foreign higher education markets varies. This study explores the barriers that may prevent higher education institutions from entering a foreign higher education market by identifying the elements that facilitated the entries of University of Nevada at Las Vegas (UNLV) and the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) into the Singaporean and Hong Kong higher education markets, respectively.
