The purpose of this pilot study was to create and develop math teacher learning experiences that supported a learning trajectory in which teachers began to move from teacher-centered technology integration to student-centered technology use for math problem-solving. This research is part of a larger, three year research project whose purpose is to attract, retain, and retrain math teachers through networked learning experiences that include video clubs, virtual world teaching simulations, and innovative pedagogies using new technologies. Teacher learning was evidenced, among other findings, in the shift from using the textbook as the student focal learning point to a game, using games to make difficult concepts visible to students, and in reflective writing about changing teaching practices.
