Leadership for Community Engagement and Collaboration: Findings From a Pilot Capacity-Building Initiative

Abstract

This paper examines a pilot professional development initiative aimed at building leadership capacity to support and sustain high quality school-based/school-linked afterschool and community school programs through cross-sector collaboration and partnerships. Using a mixed method design to study the first year of a Leadership Academy pilot in six school/community sites across four school districts in a mountain-west state, the paper provides lessons learned and implications for leadership preparation and policy development.
