Abstract

Recent policy reports and dropout prevention and recovery, evidence-based recommendations support alternative education as a solution to the United States’ dropout pandemic. One aspect of quality alternative education is a strong accountability system. This research presents a state-by-state comparison of the alternative education accountability policies and frameworks for states, California, Colorado, Florida, Oklahoma, North Carolina, and Texas, identified as having clear accountability in place for alternative education schools. This analysis of alternative education accountability provides findings to support further inquiry into desirable alternative education accountability in the United State and its goals for student outcomes.
