This paper describes a study on the age limitation on applying embodied cognition using the Novint Falcon, a 3-D force feedback joystick, in abstract concept learning, especially when the levels of abstract are taken into consideration. While using the Novint Falcon to provide perceptual experience in learning more abstract physics concepts might help both child and young adult in learning abstract physics concepts, it might only help child in learning when the physics concepts are less abstract. Using a 2x2 mix subject factorial design, our preliminary result on child group confirmed part of our hypothesis that using the Novint Falcon to provide perceptual experience helps child in learning both more abstract physics concepts and less abstract physics concepts.
