It is challenging to develop assessments for students with significant cognitive disabilities (SWSCD) that are reliable and show what students know and can do. This study replicated a model originally applied in mathematics. The study employed evidence centered design (ECD) and universal design for learning (UDL) to develop assessment tasks based on grade-level Common Core State Standards for alternate assessments. ECD and UDL frameworks were applied through co-design process, the development of assessment tasks/items for SWSCD, and findings from a review of the tasks/items by a panel of an experts panel. Results describe assessment development, task tryouts, results, and examiner feedback. The study also examined feedback on the fidelity and feasibility of the tasks.
