Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to offer an analysis of language, space and nation through testimonios and personal narratives of our journey to a social justice focused language school in Mexico to establish a critical language/cultural program for graduate students in the United States. we use various epistemologies we situate our perspectives within a transnational feminist(s) lens (xxx). This lens allowed us to work within and across our respective epistemologies. Our testimonio and personal experience narrative begin before our arrival to Mexico; continue with our 2-week stay with Mexican families, attending a Spanish language Freirian school and end with our post reflections that theorize our experiences, tensions and new perspectives of language, space and nation.
