Nonresponse in Online Course Evaluations: An Analysis of Participation and Its Consistency Over Semesters

Sat, April 14, 10:35am to 12:05pm, Vancouver Convention Centre, Floor: Second Level, West Room 207

Abstract

An increasing number of institutions are administering course evaluations online, a method of administration that tends to encounter lower response rates than its paper-based counterpart. In this study, we examine characteristics that were significant predictors of course evaluation participation and compare these results to several semesters. Moreover, throughout these semesters, do these results remain consistent? Using hierarchical linear modeling techniques, we examine a variety of possible influences on student participation and the consistency of these influences.
