Abstract

Working with San Diego State University’s Department of Educational Technology (EDTEC; see: http://coe.sdsu.edtec), QUALCOMM’s Wireless Reach Initiative (http://www.qualcomm.com/citizenship/wireless-reach) is supporting a SmartPhone pilot with a two-prong emphasis: ways mobile technologies can help improve communication between/among practicing teachers as well as the larger school community and and strategies to engage students (via mobile technologies) in relevant coursework to build higher-order skills, connect them with the larger community, and improve overall academic performance.
