The present research was designed for the purpose of gaining a greater understanding of college students’ reasons for delaying their studying and to identify factors that influence their delay. An ethnically diverse sample of students was interviewed one on one by the principal researcher during one time period. Themes were developed, which support existing research to suggest that college students’ reasons for procrastination include: low self-efficacy, lack of interest, and little social support. In addition, students admitted intentionally delaying their studying because of high self-efficacy.
