The interest towards the repeated measurements of single-subject designs as methods for providing scientific evidence continuously increases. Traditionally, the functional relation between the independent variable(s) and the change in the dependent variable(s) is determined via visual analysis of the data points presented on a line graph. However, several statistical techniques have recently been proposed. This presentation provides a comprehensive review of all quantitative methods proposed for the analysis of single-subject data. The characteristics and special features of non-regression/overlap and regression methods are described. In addition, the results of applying all reviewed techniques to an existing data set are discussed. This presentation provides a theoretical basis for the debate about the relevance and usefulness of quantitative analysis in single-subject research.
