Paper Summary

Exploring the Landscape of Advocacy as Practicing Teachers and Teacher Educators

Sat, April 14, 12:25 to 1:55pm, Vancouver Convention Centre, Floor: First Level, East Ballroom B

Abstract

We became interested in conducting a study about advocacy as we started to have conversations about the meaning of advocacy for teachers. These conversations emerged from our work with teacher candidates and novice teacher mentees in trying to encourage and prepare them to advocate. The purpose of this self-study of our practice was to explore the tensions of our own efforts to advocate so that we could uncover understandings that would improve our work with teacher candidates.
