Abstract

This paper focuses on Toronto’s strategy for educating students unable to thrive in traditional schools: small alternative schools with a variety of thematic foci where the emphasis is on establishing engagement among students, teachers and learning. In particular, the paper examines the role of curriculum innovation in teachers’ ongoing work in these schools.
