Sat, April 14, 4:05 to 5:35pm, Vancouver Convention Centre, Floor: First Level, East Ballroom A

Abstract

The purpose of this roundtable discussion is to provide an opportunity to describe and analyze the transition to school experiences and parent involvement opportunities available to parents of children with special needs. Parents have often reported that their children with special needs have particular difficulties making the transition to school and these challenges often impact their parent involvement. Individual interviews with parents of children with special needs were conducted to understand their perspectives and experiences of parent involvement as children made the transition to school.
