Sun, April 15, 12:25 to 1:55pm, Vancouver Convention Centre, Floor: First Level, West Room 111&112

Abstract

A national consortium for postsecondary education for individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities (IDD) seeks to include inclusive research and dissemination policies and practices in their model of inclusive postsecondary education. Both PAR and focus group methods have been facilitated with adolescents and young adults with IDD to document college experiences as well as print and online preferences for disseminating information related to college access and participation. Findings indicate that students with IDD see the benefits of a college experience but also have recommendations about how this experience could improve for themselves and younger peers. Staff are collaborating with students to develop an inclusive dissemination plan to produce and share accessible and usable information about college. Examples will be shared.
