In this paper, a rationale for having a poster session dedicated to the role of education researchers in responding to the predicted global demographic changes expected in the next few decades is presented. An aging population is anticipated and will present challenges for all the helping professions and for societies as wholes. A brief overview of some of these challenges is presented followed by some examples of topics that warrant the attention of education researchers. Futurists have taken to using storm analogies such as the silver tsunami, an age wave, and a 3-D hurricane. An argument is made here that education researchers can and should play an important role in preparing for that storm.
