Abstract

We investigated relationships between motivational factors and performance of college students in a large lecture-format course on geography. In our research, the motivational factors included course interest, self-efficacy, intrinsic value, and goal-orientations. Two studies are presented in this paper. A self-report measure of students’ motivational factors was administered three times (beginning, middle, and end of the semester) in each of the two studies. Performance data were obtained from final course grades. Findings and implications are discussed.
