The goal of this paper is to use complexity and chaos theory as a lens for exploring and moving beyond contemporary pedagogical dichotomies of language learning as additive/subtractive or input/output and into cultural hybridity models of language learning that might more accurately reflect the contexts and the complex, social nature of language learning for all students rather than one segment of the student population.
