The purpose of this presentation is to describe the replication, in two school districts, of a theory-driven educational model for improving the reading achievement of struggling readers in K-12 public schools, focusing on what we learned from and about evaluation from this work. The educational model includes the research-based components of the model, the activities and processes of implementation, and intended outcomes of the program. In addition to describing the model and related research, objectives of the presentation are (a) to compare and contrast the two replication sites regarding characteristics, program implementation, evaluation plans, and evaluation results; and (b) to identify what we learned from and about evaluation, and related implications for practice.
