Abstract

The paper examines the value of developing responsible global pedagogy by examining the global perspectives of ethnically diverse high school students in a mid-western city. In particular, the research examines diverse students’ interpretation of events and experiences that have taken place in non-western societies. By examining students’ perspectives, it explores the kinds of responsible pedagogical practices needed in social studies education. Responsible pedagogy explores the tensions, complexities and the challenges of teaching global perspectives on topics such as gender and culture vis-a-vis non-western societies.
