Voices From the U.S. Hispanic Youth Entrepreneur Education (USHYEE) Student Chapter Program: Early Outcomes and Promising Practices

Abstract

The voice of Hispanic/Latino youth takes center stage in this study, which investigates the impact of the U.S. Hispanic Youth Entrepreneur Education (USHYEE) Student Chapter Program. The program was implemented in three comprehensive high schools in a large urban district in 2010-2011. The voices of USHYEE staff and volunteers and participating students provide rich and textured understanding of the program’s impact—e.g., academic, psychological, behavioral, socio-cultural—on students’ lives. Evidence shows that the program has transformed the lives of Hispanic/Latino youth in ways that have laid the foundation to ultimately support students’ academic and personal success.
