Abstract

Effective pedagogical feedback presents challenges for many reading coaches, teacher mentors, and lead literacy teachers. During the clinical practicum, graduate clinicians used a non-judgmental debrief protocol to engage in conversations about peers’ video recorded strategy instruction. This study examined the efficacy of the debriefing protocol to foster coaching language as well as the changes in precise language about literacy instruction from initial to final debriefing sessions with scaffolded expertise of the course instructor.
