Sun, April 15, 10:35am to 12:05pm, Vancouver Convention Centre, Floor: First Level, East Ballroom A

Abstract

This paper will attempt to address two key issues related to school principals; causes and effects of administrator stress and burnout, and principal autonomy. Both issues have an integral effect on policy and practice in school systems, as the principal has the ability to influence many variables in a school setting, including but not limited to, teacher satisfaction, student performance, and professional development. Understanding the factors that contribute to the health and well-being of practicing school administrators is important because of the impact that an administrator has on teacher performance and student learning.
