The purpose of this study is to develop an empirically-grounded model for integrated school and community service of homeless students. The study is relevant considering that as more and more students are experiencing homelessness in the U.S., many of the schools and communities that are called to serve them are facing major budget cuts. Accordingly, more needs to be known about how to best engage the crisis of homelessness in effective and efficient manners. How do schools and communities develop purposefully integrated networks of practice in service of students who are homeless? How can their collective pools of resources be leveraged to increase students’ and families’ opportunities to achieve educational success. Such questions drive this inquiry.
